Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia SurgerySurgery

A surgery that corrects gynecomastia (abnormally enlarged male breast tissue) by excising glandular tissue and performing liposuction.

Overview

Gynecomastia surgery combines excision of hypertrophied glandular tissue with liposuction to flatten the male chest. Incisions around the areola minimize scarring. Preoperative hormone testing is recommended to identify the underlying cause (puberty, obesity, medications, etc.) before surgery.

Mechanism

Through a periareolar incision, the surgeon directly excises the firm glandular tissue beneath the nipple that cannot be removed by liposuction alone. Surrounding fatty tissue is removed via liposuction for overall chest contouring. In severe cases with significant skin excess, additional skin excision may be necessary. The combination of gland excision and liposuction addresses both components of gynecomastia for a flat, masculine chest contour.

Effects

Flattened male chest contour, removal of excess glandular tissue, reduced chest fat, improved chest appearance and symmetry, and restored confidence in bare-chested activities.

Duration

Permanent; recurrence is rare unless underlying hormonal cause is not addressed

Recovery

Compression garment for 4-6 weeks. Mild to moderate soreness for 1-2 weeks. Swelling and bruising for 2-4 weeks. Avoid chest exercise for 3-4 weeks. Return to work at 3-5 days. Final result at 2-3 months.

Side Effects

Temporary swelling, bruising, and soreness. Risk of contour irregularity, asymmetry, hematoma, seroma, nipple sensation changes, skin irregularity, and scarring. Rare recurrence if hormonal cause persists.

Price Range

3,000,000-6,000,000 KRW
