Overview
Gynecomastia surgery combines excision of hypertrophied glandular tissue with liposuction to flatten the male chest. Incisions around the areola minimize scarring. Preoperative hormone testing is recommended to identify the underlying cause (puberty, obesity, medications, etc.) before surgery.
Mechanism
Through a periareolar incision, the surgeon directly excises the firm glandular tissue beneath the nipple that cannot be removed by liposuction alone.
