Lower Eyelid Fat Repositioning

Lower Eyelid Fat RepositioningSurgery

A surgery that repositions (rather than removes) protruding under-eye fat to the sunken tear trough area, correcting both puffiness and hollowness simultaneously.

Overview

Lower eyelid fat repositioning does not remove the herniated orbital fat causing under-eye bags, but instead relocates it to the depressed tear trough area and fixes it in place. Accessed through a transconjunctival approach, it leaves no external scar and simultaneously corrects under-eye puffiness and dark circle hollowness for a smooth, rejuvenated under-eye contour.

Mechanism

Through a transconjunctival incision (inside the lower eyelid), the surgeon identifies the herniated orbital fat pads, carefully dissects them from their compartments, and transposes them over the inferior orbital rim into the tear trough depression. The fat is secured in its new position with sutures to the periosteum. This fills the hollow area while reducing the bulge, creating a smooth transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek.

Effects

Correction of under-eye bags and puffiness, filling of tear trough hollowness, improvement of dark circles (shadow-type), smoother under-eye contour, and rejuvenated, less tired appearance.

Duration

Long-lasting to permanent; aging may eventually create new changes over many years

Recovery

Swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks (bruising may extend to cheek area). No external stitches (conjunctival approach). Cold compresses for first 48 hours. Head elevation during sleep recommended. Return to work in 5-7 days. Final result at 1-3 months.

Side Effects

Temporary swelling, bruising, and under-eye tightness. Risk of under- or over-correction, residual puffiness, asymmetry, lower eyelid retraction, chemosis (conjunctival swelling), and rarely, hematoma. Results depend on accurate fat redistribution.

Price Range

1,500,000-3,000,000 KRW

Target Audience

Those with under-eye bags (orbital fat herniation) and tear trough hollowness, those with dark circles caused by shadowing, and those seeking a scar-free under-eye rejuvenation.
