Overview
MiraDry uses microwave energy (5.8 GHz) targeted at the interface between fat and dermis where sweat glands are concentrated. It permanently destroys eccrine and apocrine glands, providing a lasting solution for excessive underarm sweating and odor. FDA-cleared for axillary hyperhidrosis and osmidrosis.
Mechanism
Microwave energy at 5.8 GHz is delivered to the dermal-fat interface (approximately 2-5 mm depth) where sweat glands reside. The energy creates a thermal zone that destroys eccrine and apocrine glands. A hydroceramic cooling plate protects the epidermis. Destroyed glands do not regenerate.
Effects
Permanent reduction of underarm sweating (average 82% reduction), elimination of underarm odor, reduced need for antiperspirants, and secondary reduction of underarm hair.
Duration
Permanent. 1-2 sessions recommended 3 months apart. Results are immediate and lasting.
Recovery
