Overview

Neck lift surgery approaches through submental (under-chin) and post-auricular (behind-ear) incisions to perform platysma muscle plication (corset platysmaplasty), fat removal, and skin excision. Mechanism

Through a submental incision, the surgeon removes excess submental fat (liposuction or direct excision), then plicates the platysma muscle edges together in the midline (corset technique) to create a tight muscular sling. Through post-auricular incisions, excess neck skin is pulled laterally and posteriorly, trimmed, and closed. This addresses all three layers contributing to neck aging: fat, muscle laxity, and skin redundancy.
