Nose Revision Surgery

Nose Revision SurgerySurgery

A revision surgery to correct unsatisfactory results or complications (capsular contracture, asymmetry, implant visibility, etc.) from previous rhinoplasty.

Overview

Nose revision surgery is more challenging than primary rhinoplasty due to scar tissue and adhesions. It involves removing previous implants, replacing with autologous tissue (rib cartilage, dermal fat), resolving capsular contracture, and correcting asymmetry. The surgical approach is determined by the previous surgical history and current tissue condition.

Mechanism

Revision rhinoplasty addresses prior unsatisfactory results by removing or replacing implants, harvesting autologous cartilage (ear, rib, septal), reconstructing the nasal framework, releasing capsular contracture, and correcting asymmetry. Rib cartilage is often needed when septal cartilage has been depleted from prior surgery.

Effects

Correction of implant-related complications, improved nasal shape and symmetry, resolution of contracture or deviation, functional breathing improvement, and restoration of natural nasal appearance.

Duration

Permanent. Final shape stabilizes at 6-12 months. Longer healing than primary rhinoplasty due to scar tissue and reduced blood supply.

Recovery

Splint for 5-7 days. Swelling peaks at 2-3 days. Major swelling resolves in 2-3 weeks. Tip swelling resolves over 6-18 months. Bruising for 1-2 weeks.

Side Effects

Higher complication rate than primary surgery. Swelling, bruising, numbness, asymmetry, infection, implant displacement, cartilage warping, breathing difficulties, and prolonged recovery. Multiple revisions may be needed.

Price Range

3,000,000-8,000,000 KRW depending on complexity and graft source.

Target Audience

Those unsatisfied with previous rhinoplasty, those with implant complications (contracture, displacement, infection), and those with functional issues from prior nasal surgery.
