Overview
Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and orbicularis muscle from the upper eyelid that has drooped due to aging, causing visual obstruction or a heavy-looking appearance. Mechanism
The surgeon marks the amount of excess skin to be excised (pinch test), incises along the existing or desired crease line, removes the redundant skin and a strip of orbicularis muscle, addresses any protruding orbital fat if needed, and closes the incision with fine sutures. The resulting scar falls within the eyelid crease and becomes virtually invisible once healed.
