Fraxel Laser

Fraxel LaserTreatment

A fractional laser treatment that creates microscopic heat columns in the skin to remove pigment, improve scars, and promote skin regeneration.

Overview

Fraxel uses 1550nm or 1927nm wavelength fractional laser to create thousands of Microthermal Treatment Zones (MTZs) in the skin. Each MTZ replaces damaged tissue with new collagen while surrounding intact tissue supports rapid healing. It effectively treats acne scars, pigmentation, fine lines, enlarged pores, and overall skin texture.

Mechanism

The fractional laser creates microscopic columns of controlled thermal damage penetrating into the dermis. Each column (MTZ) triggers localized wound healing: damaged pigment and scar tissue are expelled through epidermal turnover (MEND: Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris), while new collagen fibers form in the dermis. The 1927nm wavelength targets superficial pigment, and 1550nm targets deeper scars and collagen remodeling.

Effects

Acne scar improvement, pigmentation removal, fine line and wrinkle reduction, pore size reduction, skin texture refinement, overall skin rejuvenation, and improved skin tone uniformity.

Duration

3-5 sessions at 4-8 week intervals; results continue improving for 3-6 months after final session

Recovery

Redness and swelling for 2-5 days. Bronzed or darkened appearance for 5-7 days as treated tissue exfoliates. Peeling and flaking during healing. Strict sun avoidance for 2-4 weeks. Gentle moisturizing essential.

Side Effects

Temporary redness, swelling, bronzing, and peeling. Risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (especially in Asian skin types). Infection risk if aftercare is neglected. Mild discomfort during treatment despite topical anesthesia.

Price Range

200,000-500,000 KRW per session

Target Audience

Those with acne scars, pigmentation disorders, fine wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, and those seeking comprehensive skin resurfacing.
