Overview
PicoSure, launched in 2012, was the world's first picosecond laser. It uses 755nm alexandrite and 532nm wavelengths, with a Focus Lens Array for fractional mode. The 755nm wavelength has high melanin absorption, making it particularly effective for pigmentation treatment and is also widely used for tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation.
Mechanism
PicoSure delivers 755nm picosecond pulses with high melanin selectivity for efficient pigment fragmentation. The Focus Lens Array redistributes laser energy into a micro-lens pattern, creating LIOB (Laser-Induced Optical Breakdown) zones in the dermis that stimulate collagen and elastin production without surface ablation. The 755nm wavelength is particularly effective for green and blue tattoo inks that are resistant to 1064nm lasers.

Effective melasma and pigmentation treatment, green and blue tattoo removal, pore reduction, acne scar improvement, skin rejuvenation through Focus Lens Array, and overall skin tone improvement.
Duration
Toning: 5-10 sessions at 2-4 week intervals; tattoo removal: 4-10 sessions at 6-8 week intervals; fractional: 3-5 sessions at 4-6 week intervals
Recovery
Toning: minimal downtime. Fractional: redness and mild swelling for 1-3 days. Tattoo removal: whitening, swelling, and possible blistering for 3-7 days. Generally less downtime than nanosecond laser treatments.
Side Effects
Temporary redness, swelling, and mild discomfort. Risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (though lower than nanosecond lasers). Not ideal for very dark skin types at 755nm due to high melanin absorption. Blistering possible with tattoo removal.
