Pico Toning

Overview

Pico toning is a toning technique that irradiates picosecond laser at low energy uniformly over a wide area. With pulses 1,000 times shorter than conventional nanosecond lasers, it shatters pigment particles into finer fragments for faster body clearance, offering effective treatment for melasma, freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with less thermal damage.

Mechanism

The picosecond laser delivers ultra-short pulses that generate photomechanical (pressure wave) effects rather than primarily photothermal effects. This shatters melanin granules into extremely fine particles that are more easily phagocytosed by macrophages and cleared through the lymphatic system. The reduced thermal damage compared to nanosecond lasers lowers the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
