PicoWay

PicoWayDevice

A 4-wavelength picosecond laser by Candela (Israel) used for pigmentation treatment, pore and scar improvement, and tattoo removal.

Overview

PicoWay is a picosecond laser with four wavelengths (532nm, 730nm, 785nm, 1064nm). It is widely used for pico toning (melasma, spots), pico fractional (scars, pores), and tattoo removal. The multi-wavelength capability allows treatment of various ink colors and pigmentation types.

Mechanism

PicoWay delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses that generate primarily photoacoustic (pressure wave) effects rather than photothermal effects. This shatters pigment and ink particles into extremely fine fragments with minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissue. The four wavelengths target different chromophores: 1064nm for deep melanin and black ink, 532nm for superficial melanin and red ink, 730nm and 785nm for blue and green inks. The Resolve fractional handpiece creates laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) in the dermis for collagen remodeling.

Effects

Pigmentation treatment (melasma, spots, freckles), pore reduction, acne scar improvement, multi-color tattoo removal, skin tone evening, and overall skin rejuvenation through fractional mode.

Duration

Toning: 5-15 sessions at 2-4 week intervals; tattoo removal: 5-15 sessions at 6-8 week intervals; fractional: 3-5 sessions at 4-6 week intervals

Recovery

Toning: minimal downtime, mild redness for hours. Fractional: redness and micro-swelling for 1-3 days. Tattoo removal: whitening, swelling, possible blistering for 3-7 days. Sun protection essential for all modes.

Side Effects

Temporary redness, swelling, and mild discomfort. Risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (lower than nanosecond lasers). Tattoo removal may cause blistering and crusting. Complete tattoo removal not always achievable.

Price Range

50,000-300,000 KRW per session depending on mode and area

Target Audience

Those with pigmentation concerns, acne scars, enlarged pores, unwanted tattoos, and those seeking advanced picosecond laser treatment.
