A treatment using fractional laser, microneedle RF, and other modalities to stimulate dermal collagen regeneration in stretch marks, improving their texture and color.
Overview
Stretch marks (striae) are a type of scar formed when dermal collagen and elastin are excessively stretched and ruptured due to rapid weight changes, pregnancy, or growth spurts. They initially appear as red stretch marks (striae rubra) and fade over time to white stretch marks (striae alba). Fractional laser, microneedle RF, and collagen-stimulating treatments target the damaged dermis to promote new collagen formation and improve appearance.
Mechanism
Fractional laser creates microscopic treatment zones in the stretch mark tissue, triggering wound healing and new collagen deposition. Microneedle RF delivers thermal energy into the damaged dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin remodeling. For red stretch marks, vascular lasers can additionally target the dilated blood vessels contributing to the red color. The combined approach gradually rebuilds the dermal structure and improves both texture and pigmentation.
Effects
Improved stretch mark texture and smoothness, color normalization (red to skin-toned), reduced visibility of stretch marks, enhanced skin elasticity in treated areas, and gradual dermal remodeling.
Duration
5-10 sessions at 4-6 week intervals; red stretch marks respond faster than white ones; significant improvement over 3-6 months
Recovery
Redness and mild swelling for 2-5 days. Micro-crusting with fractional laser. Treated area may feel tight and dry. Moisturizing essential. Sun protection important if treating exposed areas.
Side Effects
Temporary redness, swelling, and crusting. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation risk. Complete elimination of stretch marks is not possible; significant improvement in appearance (50-70%) is a realistic expectation. White (old) stretch marks are more resistant to treatment than red (new) ones.
Price Range
100,000-400,000 KRW per session
Target Audience
Those with stretch marks from pregnancy, weight changes, or growth, those wanting to reduce the visibility of striae, and those seeking texture and color improvement of stretch-marked skin.
